I wore my Planet Ocean XL to work today, and my colleagues remarked that my new watch was very handsome (I hope that they meant for me in the compliment too). No one could believe that I had picked it from another fellow collector - as one of them remarked, "There was hardly even ONE scratch on the watch, so it's impossible to be more than a few days old TOPS!".
I chuckled to myself; and after a quick lunch, I took off the watch for an impromptu check and it did seemed as though the watch was right out from the showroom. The grain on the case and bracelet was perfectly aligned; and I knew that I had done a good job restoring the beauty back upon the watch and bracelet. Practise makes perfect.
I would most probably be switching back to Nato or Zulu straps for the said watch; and a fellow collector whom had in July 2014 purchased a PO XL 8500 was interested to buy over the stainless steel bracelet from my PO XL to be installed on his. However, I would have to turn down his RM500 offer as I felt that the bracelet truly enhance the value of the watch for more than the proposed figure; so I would just keep it aside for swap sometimes.
The collector was interested to let go of his PO XL (RRP : RM18,400) for a Submariner Non-Date, at a proposed price of RM16,000. My initial thought was that he was looking at a small profit from the sale of his watch, as a walk-in would have gotten higher discount from the typical AD; until I learnt from him that the place where he purchased from had given him very minimal discount i.e. half of the normal walk-in discount. Ouch!
For those new to the scene, do practise your haggling skills and 8-15% would have been in the bag relatively easily. I was offered xx% recently, for purchases without receipt but with credit card slip; and that was truly on the higher side as the AD wanted to drum up some sales (ready stocks only) as it had been rather quiet on their front. As an example, from the AD I meant, I would have gotten a similar watch to this collector's for a price cheaper than the prices from Net-based online store even.
The offer was valid for a limited time only, of course; and checking with a few other collectors revealed that they have not really gotten such high offers before, especially since credit card purchases were allowed.
Anyone interested in purchasing new Omega watches, feel free to contact me and I could purchase them for you at the xx% discount above. I don't gain a sen from the deal; well, perhaps only for some credit card points. And the AD has told me not to reveal their name as they only trust regular customers, so the deal has to go through me.
Let's all wear our watches in good health!
My Dad used to be a watchsmith- and I grew up watching him taking watches apart for servicing and repair works, before re-assembling all the tiny parts into fully-working items of marvel again. It's no surprise then that I was intrique into the world of watches since a young age. P/S : This is a watch site from an enthusiast to fellow enthusiasts, so you won't be bothered by adverts here. Just pure watch-reading fun, if you're into this. Enjoy the ride...
Can you help me to check on Omega Chrono titanium? You still have my hp no? How much discount are we talking about here? Thx.
ReplyDeleteHi Johnny, hope you're enjoying the watches that you got from me. I am overseas now and with the time difference, it's better that I post here and you can read this for yourself at your convenience. There are 2 ready-stock chrono titanium at the AD i.e. blue and grey pieces. RRP : RM32,000. Possible to get at RM23,000 for a limited period only. Basically works like this : You tell me which piece you would prefer, I buy from the AD, I pass to you, you pay me cash. What do you say? But please make sure that you really want the watch and have ready cash on hand.
ReplyDeleteAndy, I smsed you but there was no reply. I will take the Omega Chrono titanium in blue (model no is 232.90.46.51.03.001 so that we are both referring to the same watch). I will gladly pay you RM23,000 + RM500 for your effort and the great discount. My only conditions are the watch must be new and from an Omega AD, no matter in Malaysia or overseas. Please sms me back or PM me here, I will be checking back daily. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAs a token of my appreciation, I like to bump it up to RM23,000 + RM1,200 if I could receive the watch by tomorrow night; as I am flying to Singapore on Saturday. I am serious as I have been wanting to get this watch, and was quoted RM27,200 by my AD. I hope you are serious too. Consider this as mutual goodwill. I earn RM3,000 and you earn RM1,200. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Johnny, thanks for your rather generous offer and I do appreciate it. You are in turn subsidising my next watch purchase. I'll be back to Malaysia by Friday so yeah, you're getting your watch tomorrow. Do note that the AD will not be issuing a receipt due to the discount given, but I'll have the credit card slip to pass to you. Cheers.
DeleteAndy, came back here to thank you again for rushing here during lunch hours. This chrono is a really beautiful watch and I am sure that I am going to get lots of envious looks wearing the watch :-)
