Collectors would know that you don't have much choices when it comes to green dials from Seiko. Black has aplenty choices, green not so much. Which brought us to today's entry.
I wrote about the Seiko 62MAS Green Lantern earlier the week @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2019/05/caliber-6r-sumo-baby-mm-62mas.html. Since this was a JDM piece and not available in Seiko Malaysian ADs, the only way to get one's hand on this was vide international ADs, grey resellers, or during travels to Japan. And given that it's a special edition, you would need to click on the "Grab It Now" option before it ran out shortly.
The bracelet was advertised as a step above the rest of the Prospex line e,g. Sumo and Shogun. Generally, I was not a fan of Seiko's original bracelets as I felt that they tend to be cheap and flimsy, which was also the reason that I spent lots on aftermarket bracelets and Isofranes. In fact, most of my Seiko watches were on Isofranes.
Let's see if the 62MAS' bracelet was really better than the rest?
From a quick feel, the bracelet seemed to be similar to that of the rest of Seiko's range. I just don't understand how Swiss brands like Squale could fit solid and premium bracelets on their range even though the price was only RM2.5k as per my entry @ http://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2019/05/a-simple-review-squale-1545-classic.html; yet Seiko's premium pieces like that of this 62MAS (RM3.7k) and MM300 (RM15k) could not catch up to such bracelet quality despite the higher prices. Very strange indeed- we'd need Dr Stephan to clear that up for us then.
But then again, fans of this 62MAS would not be buying this specifically for the bracelet, would they? No Siree, fans would be clamouring for this piece due to that oh-so-alluring Green Lantern dial!
While Seiko has had some green dials of late e.g. Jade Monster, Sumo Hulk, and Deep Forest MM300, I would opine that none of those could hold a candle to the Green Lantern dial of the 62MAS. The 62MAS came with the classic black and wavy blue dials; but it's the Green Lantern green that stole the limelight in this range. Let's peel away that protective sticker and enjoy the green that made many green with envy.

Altogether, I found that this was a handsome piece; although it might have been better if the case had been slightly smaller given that it was supposed to be a re-issue of a vintage piece.
Models like Sumo, Monster, and Tuna could get away with a bigger case as even their nicks reflected how they were looked upon by the collectors; but the 42.6mm 62MAS being a vintage-inspired could have gone with a more common 40mm- that was my thought anyway.
Still, I loved staring at that alluring green dial and I knew that this dial would not be easy to come by, so I'll just enjoy the piece in all its glory.
All that green had me thinking about the pickle slices in a burger. Hmmm, maybe I should have a cheeseburger later...
