Heart Wants What It Wants : Emperor Tuna

The Seiko 6159-7010 aka Grandfather Tuna started watch enthusiasts' love and marvel towards the Tuna range, itself one of the most over-engineered diver watches of all times. It's the Japanese-equivalent of the DSSD; and that speaks a lot actually. To learn more about the Grandfather Tuna, you could read more @ http://www.fratellowatches.com/seiko-6159-7010-grandfather-tuna/.

There were 2 new Emperor Tunas released during Baselworld 2015 i.e. SBDX014 Special Edition and SBDX016 Limited Edition (700 pieces). RRP in Malaysia for both pieces ranged from RM15,900 - RM18,550.

I was initially quite intrigued with the SE but as I delved more and more into learning about it, the more I got even more interested with the LE aka Ocean Gold. There's a cool RM3,000 difference between both pieces and they were powered by the same mechanically-superior Seiko 8L35 caliber, which was essentially an undecorated Grand Seiko caliber. Logic would tell that the SE would be a better buy, but the heart seems to be inclined more towards Ocean Gold todate.

And the dilemma was made worse in that I have actually found a seller with ready stock of both pieces. So it was a matter of choosing for either piece and parting with the cold, hard cash. Dayuuum...

Given the state of the Malaysian economy these days, the low commodities' prices, and the unstable political climate, I know that I would be better putting the cash aside for more relevant needs. But the more I looked at the pictures of both watches, the more the heart wants what it wants.

Which would be your choice for the take? Attached is the Ocean Gold for your viewing pleasure. Ain't she a beauty... one could literally get lost staring at that beautiful mocha dial.
