Over at Singapore, there was an exhibition on Marvel Studios' 10 Years of Heroes and the boys were very excited to go and spot their big-screen superheroes. So a quick flight ensured and the Daytona Diamond accompanied us for the said treat.

The diamonds on the Daytona dial reflected all sorts of colours along with Thanos' infinity gauntlet.

Another's no need to fight with all and sundry- you could even get your own litted infinity gauntlet in the comfort of your own home, all for circa S$500.

Yup, SKX009J1 and SL55. The perfect tools for a speedy durian spread at (you guessed it) SS2.

Bell & Ross Military Type

Further to my Bell & Ross entries @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-next-br-chapter-priority-air.html and https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2018/06/br-chapter-continues-br03-92-military.html, a fellow collector asked if he could swing by my place to take a look at the Military Type piece. Unfortunately, he was delayed along the way and I had a gathering with some other fellow collectors, so I had to leave for my engagement prior to his arrival.

BR was known for their iconic square shape (along the lines of aviation instruments), and their best-selling models were the BR01 and BR03, the latter of which was a bigger hit here in Asia. Utilising a standard Sellita Swiss movement, these were uncomplicated pieces although the watch snobs could point out that it did not have its own in-house movements along the lines of Rolex and Omega.

No right or wrong there, as the usage of the mass-produced movements enabled brands like BR and Tudor (during the 1st generation Black Bay and Pelagos days), to keep to a lower pricing. Anyway, BR was famed for its aviation-based and military design, not for its movements; so I don't really mind on this point.

Not everyone could carry that square case on their wrist though, and I have seen far too many collectors sporting BR cases that were far too big for their wrists. This inadvertently made their wrists looking like an accessory for the BR watches, and not the other way round as should be.

With the usage of ceramic cases for BR now, as compared to stainless steel previously, their models had been making in-roads amongst younger collectors, or those wanting something that was off the beaten track.

Just check out that amazing serial no. It was one of the key points that I had to grab this very piece. To get a 10000 serial no. was already pretty cool, but this one was even better!

And this was the military canvas strap for strapping onto the watch, when one had to go for the Black Ops to defend world peace and the likes.

That matte black colour on the ceramic case with that military green dial was really attractive; and for some reasons, reminded me of an AMG about to take flight. Yummy!

A pretty nice piece to be added into one's collection!

Kung Fu Panda vs Hulk

A collector whom had previously purchased a couple of Batmen from me, was interested to next go for either the Hulk or Panda that I was letting go now. Price-aside, whereby Hulk was RM49.5k while Panda was RM16k; the real question was which piece would be the better fit on his wrist.

His wrist was on the slimmer side, so I instinctively knew that the Panda would be a great fit and would match him well. But if the piece was to be an investment piece and not to be worn, then obviously the Hulk would be the better buy.

Kermit was produced for 7 years before it was discontinued, and Hulk had been in production for 8 years so the friendly ADs opined that Hulk could be going towards a similar fate in the near future. Speedy Panda had been appreciating like nobody's business amongst collectors, and the one that I was releasing was a discontinued piece (although there was a local grey retailer with a NOS piece selling at RM29k, with its own 2-year reseller warranty).

I guess all of us have been there, so here're some pictures to help him make his decision better. Check out the real world sizes, thickness, and wear on the wrist. Both pieces came with manufacturers' warranty so at least there would be no consideration on the movements. Here goes...

One piece was created to explore the vastness of space, while the other was to explore the depth of the ocean. Panda would wear thinner, even though it has a chrono; and would fit easily under one's cuff. The Hulk on the other hand, had a sunburst green that was really attractive and simply had to be seen in person.

So here you go, mate- the ball's in your court now.

Weekend Wear

What was your preferred wear for a weekend? This was the main winder where most of my rotation watches would be placed in for easier retrieval; but of late, I noticed that my spouse and kids' watches have started to come into my winder.

"Where were the rest of my watches?"

My elder boy told me that he had placed them into their respective boxes, and back into the watch safe. 

"So why leave these pieces then?"

"Because I see that you normally look at them when you play with your watches, Daddy."

"Attaboy, he's a smart one alright!"
