Handsome pieces in their own right!
My Dad used to be a watchsmith- and I grew up watching him taking watches apart for servicing and repair works, before re-assembling all the tiny parts into fully-working items of marvel again. It's no surprise then that I was intrique into the world of watches since a young age. P/S : This is a watch site from an enthusiast to fellow enthusiasts, so you won't be bothered by adverts here. Just pure watch-reading fun, if you're into this. Enjoy the ride...

SOLD : Rolex Daytona Ceramic Polar Model No. 116500LN
This is a piece that needs no lengthy introduction. If I have a nickel every time a collector asked me, "Datuk, do you have a Daytona Ceramic Polar that you could flip to me?", I would be quite well-off already.
The last time that I had a few pieces of this model to flip was months back. Well, tonight, I just collected a brand new local AD full boxed set! Fresh from the oven, I would let this go for a song (just to recover my cost plus) compared to the real world prices. Note that the price would likely increase again come the 1st Oct official adjustment, so take this home this very month.
Since it is increasingly becoming harder to get, I would let this go to collectors whom have previously purchased at least 2 watches from me, irrespective of the brands that you purchased. You would have my no, so WhatsApp away! First to fulfil the conditions and messaged in, takes the watch home.

Rolex Lovebirds
I really liked this horological hobby that us WIS share, because WIS tend to have so much to share during our watch meets. Tonight, I met a pair of lovebirds with a common love of Rollies- and what great models they have on their wrists too. So much so that prior to them leaving the Pool Cafe, I asked for the customary wrist shots that we all enjoyed so.
Lovebirds sharing the best book for watch lovers. |
A masculine 116713LN matched with an equally handsome 116621- what a lovely combination! Feast your eyes on these pictures courtesy of L&C, and here's wishing you a great evening ahead!

Parody : Hitler & Panerai
Some collectors say, "Just buy what you like. Don't think about the depreciation. Live life great." (Thereafter, they try to sell you Great Eastern insurance policies. :)
Others say, "I will never flip. I buy to pass to my children. I am not a flipper like you."
But think about it. Even if you were to pass on your collection to your kids when they were older, would they likely prefer to have your Rolex/Omega/Tudor or Audemars Piguet/Hublot/Linde Werdelin? At this point in time, we could safely conclude that selective models from the former group would likely retain their value better.
For me, certain models from Panerai, Bell & Ross, Ball, Seiko, Casio, and the likes are my play things. The ones that would tend to keep my capital would be the Rolex and Omega. And they make good trade pieces too!

Mod and Micro-Brand Bug
It has been rather hectic 2 weeks of travel. First of was a mini-holiday of sorts to soak out on my dosage of Vitamin Sea, which I enjoyed so.
Next was a plane ride away to check on my plantations and to ensure that things were on target. They were indeed.
Throughout the period, the Seiko Sumo model no. SBDC033 or better known by its nickname i.e. Blumo, had been a dependable companion on my wrist and performed flawlessly. I'm awaiting the double-dome sapphire crystal upgrade to arrive any day now; which should make the watch even more enticing.
Look, even Rolex was being modded along the lines of Seiko PADI these days :
I have a couple of watches meant for mods and micro-brands alike, in-coming within the week or so; so it should be interesting time ahead :
The last piece, being a stainless steel modded Tuna works with NE15 movement, Dagaz dial, MM300 hands, ceramic lumed bezel, sapphire crystal, etc has me quite excited really. Can't wait for the mods to be completed in due course.
Keep your eyes peeled hereabouts for the up-coming reviews then!

Rolex Daytona 116520 Polar
Readers would know that I am a fan of Rolex Daytona, having added and flipped this model in various guises. This morning, I was offered an opportunity to add a 116520 Polar into my collection. Knowing me, you could guessed that I jumped at the offer- so much so that I was prepared to fly to Singapore to inspect and pick up the piece within the weekend, if the price was right.
After some exchanges to and fro, it would seemed that it was no longer tenable for me to pick up the piece. You would know that I would want to buy, write about the piece, then probably flip it back to my readers at a great price. That's my hobby and part of paying it forward so that all of us would have a chance to net good watches at great prices. My flip prices have always been below market value thus far.
The seller wanted circa S$23k for this piece. What do you think? Should I take it up? Hmmm...
