In-coming : Caliber 7C46

Looking through some of the watches in the main winder and case, I found that most of the pieces were of mechanical nature and there were only 3 quartz pieces, namely from the G-Shock trio consisting of the Mudman, Rangeman, and MTG-GPS. Even the ones in the safe were all mechanical pieces. This got me thinking and I decided to add a Seiko Tuna with the 7-jewel quartz Caliber 7C46 into the collection.

2 pieces came to mind, namely the MM300 (SBBN035) and MM1000 (SBBN013). Since quartz pieces tend to have lesser appeal compared to mechanical ones, we could expect to enjoy some discounts for these pieces.

Both were DLC pieces and huge like hockey pucks. Which one would tickle your fancy into buying?

SOLD : 2006 Rolex Submariner Kermit 16610LV

Up for grabs is a 2006 pre-owned (pointy four) Kermit released from a collector as part trade-in for one of my watches. As you could judge from the above pictures, the watch was sparingly worn and came with a recent Rolex Malaysia full service papers with 2-year Rolex international warranty (not those in-shop warranty). Note the original Lime green bezel in excellent condition sans scratches- prized highly by known collectors!

Kermit has been long-discontinued and had been appreciating like crazy in the secondary market, as could be seen in the attached Chrono24 adverts for other Z-serial Kermits. Grab this piece at a bargain today, available on a first come first served basis!

Halloween Candies

Jason & Coco

Readers might recalled that I flipped a couple of Rolex Submariner back in June, and one of the pieces were sold to a Doc based in East Malaysia @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2018/06/wts-2018-rolex-submariner-date-116610ln_26.html. Well, the good Doc had paid the full sum of the watch and we had made a few appointments to meet up, but his tight rounds meant that he had had to take rain cheques a couple of times.

Well, 4 months after we concluded the deal, he's finally found time to make a day trip to fly to KL to pick up the Submariner. During the wait, the grey reseller's prices on this piece had appreciated by RM1k per month; and we have seen similar watches like his in brand new condition being flipped at RM42k. Wow!

During the pick-up, he saw the Tudor GMT Pepsi on my wrist from the review entry @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2018/10/review-of-tudor-black-bay-gmt-15-months.html, and asked if I had any new pieces on hand. And it was his lucky day indeed as I retrieved a piece from my safe and he was happy as bird.

And to cap off the trip, he was also interested in a similar Omega Speedy Pro that I flipped in March @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2018/03/wts-bnib-omega-speedmaster-moonwatch.html, and transformed into an astronaut in the process.

Just imagine- 1 weekend, 2 flights, and 3 new watches from Rolex, Tudor, and Omega! 4 days away Halloween might be, but I dare say that the good Doc had gotten his Halloween candies in advance. I could well picture that he'd be too happy to sleep tonight as he plays around with his new acquisition of choice pieces.

Here's to you, Dr and may you wear 'em watches in good health...

E-mail From Reader : Where Do You Buy Your Seiko?

I saw an interesting e-mail from a reader whom lamented that selective Seiko watches' prices were getting higher and higher. He mentioned that I used to flip many Seiko watches, and he had purchased from me previously; but I seemed to have stopped collecting Seiko watches these days.

(NB : Actually, I am still buying Seiko watches, albeit lesser these days. I have the SKX009J1 and SBDC033, 2 Dagaz Diamondback pieces with Seiko NE15/6R15 movement, and am waiting for a modded Tuna case fitted with Seiko movement. I am currently on the fence with regards to adding a  SLA019.)

Take the Baselworld 2018 released SLA019 as an example. These are selling for RM15,600 locally, and I heard that ADs are not giving any discounts on this piece given its' LE status.

Readers would know that I travel to our neighbouring countries on a monthly basis, and I could get the same model at Indonesia as per the following :

The Indonesian price was circa RM3.2k cheaper compared to locally, although one has to act fast to secure the deal as these pieces come and go very fast.

Some of the other pieces that were mentioned by the reader whom wrote to me were SBDX001, SBDX017, and SBDX014; and you could take a look at their pricing as per below :

At the end of the day, the street prices were a reflection of the local demand and supply. Rolex pieces would tend to have a premium everywhere in the world; but with Seiko, you could afford to scout around and choose the best deal that you could find. Some of the sellers do not ship to Malaysia, so you might have to be flexible in picking it up personally though.

Have fun hunting your Seiko watches, readers!
