Reader's Wrist : Seiko Jade Monster G3

I updated earlier that a watch collector friend flew over to KL specially to check out the Last Man On The Moon. He informed that he had been researching loads about this piece and all the dates associated with this piece ticked the right boxes for him.

Just imagined if you will, he just read about my advert 2 days ago @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2019/04/wts-omega-last-man-on-moon-limited.html; and he immediately made arrangements to view the piece over the weekend. You don't get much more of a hardcore Speedy enthusiast than this- not by much more to stretch anyway.

This was the 3rd piece of LMOTM that I had on my hand, and I was glad that it would be going to a good home. In fact, the collector asked me to assist to strap on the vintage rally strap, so that he could wear it back to the hotel immediately. Do wear it in good health, mate!

On the way to Pool Cafe, he was actually spotting the Seiko Jade Monster G3. This was a piece that I also had an interest on; but since Seiko Monster G4 was just around the corner for its pre-order launch, I decided to hold on and wait for it to be released first.

This would be how the G4 would looked like, and it would be retailing at circa RM2k. Expect the real world prices to be circa RM1.6k and below. Do note that the G3 had the more premium 6R15 movement; while G4 reverted back to the 4R36, most probably due to cost considerations.

It would seemed as though the above Monster G4 had the faux patina lume, although it could be just the colours of the advert. We shall know soon enough come next month.

And of course, prior to the collector's departure, we did a wrist shot together; so checked out the Daytona Diamond and LMOTM together. Both were handsome pieces, although the rarer status would have to go to the LMOTM!

Last Bunny On The Moon

Hope you guys are having a great Easter celebration with your loved ones! My kids are out on another Easter egg hunt, so I have some quiet time to update a short entry.

Well, I just had a collector came over to collect a new piece of Seiko MM300 SLA021, and am expecting another collector this evening whom is flying all the way here to view the Baselworld 2017 sold-out Omega "Last Man On The Moon" Limited Edition. In fact, it looked like quite a few collectors were interested in this rare piece.

Truth be told, I was rather tempted to hold onto both pieces; because this LMOTM was so rich in history plus it has lots of room for appreciation. But I need to raise some cash to part-subsidise an in-coming piece so let's just get this April 2019 LMOTM shifted to a keen collector. After all, I would still have my January 2019 LMOTM with me.

So this just came in- apparently The Last Man On The Moon had a chocolatey Last Bunny On The Moon and was over the moon. Enjoy your Easter holidays, dear readers!

Just take a hard look at this LMOTM- I had quite a few Speedmaster Limited Edition pieces and this one truly was designed to be very special! So many details to keep it going fresh for years to come. And like all Speedmaster, it looked great paired with vintage rally strap. What a handsome piece altogether!

Franken Mod : Sexy SOXA Pepsi AKA Captain America Watch (Challenge Completed)

This Sexy Soxa dressed in Pepsi colours, made its debut in the wild for the first time this evening. From your average SKX007-all-look-alike, this Sexy Soxa had seen some nice upgrades as per the following :

- Dagaz Soxa silver sunburst dial,
- Dagaz full handset,
- Seiko NH35a movement,
- Pepsi ceramic crystal,
- OEM crown and caseback.

I brought it out for a swim and it performed marvellously in its elements. Taking a modded piece to the pool would always be a bit of a risk as the gasket could have been compromised in the process. In this case, similar to my other mod works, it passed with flying colours.

In fact, my younger boy called this Franken Mod, the "Captain America watch". Hmmm, looked the part somewhat too :)

Matched with nice, thick, premium Pepsi Zulu imported from Europe, I would opined that this  Franken Mod transformation had brought a more premium and different look towards the common SKX007 classic. While I had a picture in my mind prior to the mod works, it turned out better-looking than what I had expected.

That sunburst dial played with the lights to produce different looks depending on the way the lights reflected on the dial. All in all, I must say that I am pretty satisfied with this Franken Mod. Here's to a nice addition to my collection then!

And being a diver's, the lume was of course an important factor of the mod work; and it had not disappoint in this regard. What a great piece!

Placed next to the SKX007 Planet Ocean, one looked so sombre and serious; while the other looked so sexy and with flair. 2 same models but dressed for different occasions altogether.

Franken Mod : Underwater Demolition Team Timer (Challenge Completed)

This was a simple mod, but I thought that it worked out just fine. In fact, this was something that was thought out by my 10-year old boy. He saw my Mon5ter Wave @ https://andywristwatches.blogspot.com/2019/04/franken-mon-great-wave-off-kanagawa.html, which my younger boy loved so much; and gave some pointers. Fancy that!

- "Daddy, I prefer orange colour, like Charmander's. Could you colour the numbers (bezel) orange?"
- "You always wear the Submarine(r). Why don't you make an Orange Submarine(r)?"

With the above comments, I accepted the challenge and started tinkering around. Turned out that there was a very suitable Orange Mon5ter that could be the right watch for the job; and I soon had an Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) Timer dial and hands ready. The dial and hands were from Dagaz, my usual go-to source for most mods. Thanks, Jake and Richard!

In fact, take a good look at that NOS discontinued pair of hands and you could see that it resembled the submarine painted on the dial. How cool was that!

And so the UDT Timer Mon5ter joined my collection, along with its other modded siblings-in-arms! There was an Easter Egg Hunt organised for the community, and my younger boy was there for the hunt. I brought the UDT Timer Mon5ter along, and it was certainly tool enough for the simple job.

The kids painted these eggs :)
